Announcing a New Edition of
The History of Brookfield, Vermont
The Brookfield Historical Society first published a comprehensive history of the town in 1987. That history has been out of print for at least a decade and many changes have taken place in Brookfield in the quarter century since the town history was prepared. Moreover, significant new historical material has come to light. All of these circumstances have prompted the Brookfield Historical Society to prepare a new edition of the history, which is being readied for publication in 2010.
The 2010 edition of the Brookfield town history will constitute a substantial revision and updating of the 1987 text. Many new illustrations will appear including maps, historic photographs, and drawings. Of special interest are photographs created in the late 19th century by Ella Colt, Brookfield’s first professional photographer. The new edition will be bound in soft covers and will run more than 300 pages in length.
Alice Wakefield is the general editor of the revised edition and is assisted by Carl Bushey, Jr., Elinor Gray, Gary Lord, and Jackie Wilder.
