New Events:
The Brookfield Library has monthly events, author readings, educational seminars, VT Humanities specials, local experts and kid's nights. Please check the Randolph Herald for what is happening at your local library!
From the Herald:
The Second annual Candy-Making workshop was a huge success by all accounts. NECI-trained chef and Brookfield resident Maggie Hooker lead participants ranging in age from 8-80 in tempering chocolate, dipping caramels and peppermint patties, filling peanut butter cups, as well as making marshmallows and cocoa blocks to be stirred in to a mug of hot milk. All participants had a grand time, as they went from station to station crafting sweet treats. Many lessons were learned, such as: 'When starting a mixer in a bowl full of powdered sugar, SLOW is the speed you want to go!" Minda Stridsberg was kind enough to demonstrate that one as she and her brother Clark concocted a peanut butter filling. The cost of the workshop was on a sliding scale, making it accessible to all, and proceeds went to benefit to the Brookfield Library. Everyone went home with full bellies, big smiles, new knowledge and a tupperware of candies! Thanks to all who came and shared their cheer for this holiday season.

The Trustees of the Brookfield Library will hold their February meeting on Monday February 20, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Brookfield Library. Members of the Brookfield community are welcome to attend. BROOKFIELD WRITERS GROUP - FEBRUARY 4, 2012 1:00 PM
Do you have some memories of important moments in your life that keep running through your head? If that is so, please consider joining the Brookfield Writers Group at the Brookfield Library. Our first meeting is on February 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Library.
The Brookfield Writers Group is the child of The Hale Street Gang which has been making a name for itself in central Vermont. The "Gang" has been writing for three years under the guidance of Sara Tucker. Members have performed readings at various galleries, the Chandler, Vermont Technical College, and most recently at the Vermont Historical Society's annual meeting at the State House. The group has published two anthologies and numerous personal momentos.
Two Brookfield residents, Bonnie Fallon and Dorcas Wright, are part of the "Gang." and have had a real adventure recalling early memories, some of them in Brookfield. What other wonderful stories are waiting to be written by other local people.
JOIN US at the Brookfield Library February 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM for this wonderful opportunity.
